IPL-2017 Final Taught Me These 6 Important Lessons

What a thriller it was!

Who would have thought, that Mumbai will manage to defend the meagre total of 130?
That too against the masters like Rahane, Smith and our beloved, mighty Dhoni.
Really, who expected them to win?

Well, I did.
Actually, I didn't. Being a staunch MI fan, I had cursed Rohit and company for scoring such a low total, switched the channel when Krunal dropped a sitter from Rahane and had almost slept.
I thank instincts, as they demanded me to witness the loss, which actually turned out to be a victory.
And I thank MI (and RPS too) for teaching some of the most valuable lessons of my life!

1.To Human is To Error

Rohit has scored the highest ODI score, but yesterday, he fell like a small, hollow soda can.
Pollard might be the ultimate destroyer, but he couldn't hit more than a six last night.
Dhoni, the best finisher in the world, hardly finished anything.

And that's it.
This does not mean that they are not good cricketers, it's just that they made some silly mistakes last night.
And it's completely OK. Cause nobody is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes.
You also have made some and will make a lot in future too (and so will I).
Just think, that it wasn't your day (or, night) and move on. Cause it's not the end for you.
Rohit will hit another century, Pollard will smash some awesome sixes, and Dhoni will again give us that dramatic-last-ball-six-finish.
And you'll have your moments too :)

2.Things Go wrong (as they eventually will)
Yes, the do. And they will.
The best batting line up can collapse like a house of cards.
Best fielder of the side can drop a sitter.
And similar things will happen with you at some point in time.
You might not score well in your exams or might get sacked from your job (Don't worry, you won't be. Just saying).

But every fall will increase the sweetness of your final victory. :)

3. Never-Say-Die
Oh, yes!
The game is not over till the last ball is bowled or the last run is scored.
Just imagined, what'd have happened, if Krunal would have given up, cause his companions were scoring ducks.
Or, what if Mitch had given up when he was smashed for a boundary on the very first ball of his last over.
But, fortunately, they didn't. Fortunately, the entire MI team didn't give up. They stuck around, played like fighters and the result is in front of you. :)

4. And Never Wait For The Last Moment Too
Yes. If you can finish the game earlier, do it.
Pune could have increased the pace of scoring in the middle overs. C'mon, they had all the wickets in their hands. I know MI bowled pretty nicely, but still, Pune hardly scored any boundaries in the middle overs.
Perhaps, they wanted to accelerate in the final overs.
Perhaps, they wanted to have a dramatic finish (which, they actually got).

Victory is more important that the Glory!
So, don't wait for the deadlines. Do your work way ahead of them.  Otherwise, you'll lose by a run.

5.Teamwork Triumphs Individual Brilliance
If you look at the statistics of the entire IPL-2017, then you'll understand what I am trying to say.
Mumbai never depended on a star. They always had options ready.
When Lendl or Butler failed to score, Parthiv managed a few runs.
When he failed, Pollard or Rohit would score. And when they failed, Krunal and Hardik would smash some.
Same happened with the bowling department. Bumrah, Johnson, Karn Sharma, everybody had each other's back.
On the other hand, Pune relied on Smith to perform in the last over. And had heavily relied on him and Rahul for the rest of the tournament.
Remember, Ironman or Thor, can't save the world every time. You need the entire set of Avengers to fight the evil.

6.Reputation Doesn't Help You, Performance Does
In a star-packed final, which saw Dhoni, Smith, Rohit, Pollard, Malinga and several others sharing a single ground, the real heroes turned out to be Krunal Pandya and Bumrah.
Yes, can help you initially, but if you only rely on it (and I am not saying that these players did), then someday, someone will come and out-shadow you.
Your reputation can help you get good money in IPL auctions, but it won't help you in scoring runs or picking up wickets.
And never lose your calm while competing against a guy (or girl) of reputation, cause you might turn out to be the new Pandya or Bumrah.

As I said, it was just not a match.
It was a fight that taught me several lessons.
